IMPORTANT NOTICE
REGARDING MISINFORMATION POSTED ON THE WEB
ABOUT THE TRANSGENDER FUND
Several years ago an organization called “Trans Health” erroneously posted an item on their website about the TG Fund. Here is their exact quote:
“The Transgender Fund is a new organization that awards grants to trans people seeking assistance in paying for SRS. Applications (and the opportunity to donate to the fund) are available on their website.”
Even a cursory review of the material on our website would demonstrate that our grant orientation is one of human rights, education and outreach. Indeed, our very Bylaws preclude us from providing grants to individuals to cover the costs of their surgeries. That statement on Trans Health’s website is hurtful. Individuals reading it get their hopes up; contact us; and feel betrayed and disappointed when we have to tell them that we cannot accommodate their needs.
Several attempts have been made to get Trans Health to retract that statement and to set the record straight. So, far they have ignored those requests thereby perpetuating that falsehood and providing a disservice to our transgender community.
